Perhaps money can’t buy happiness after all. Minecraft creator and billionaire Markus “Notch” Persson revealed over the weekend that he is extremely depressed and dissatisified with his life. This may come as a surprise to anyone who’s ever struggled to make ends meet.
In September 2014, Persson sold Minecraft for $2.5 billion. With his newly acquired sudden wealth he purchased a Beverly Hills mansion for $70 million, outbidding celebrity power couple Beyonce and Jay Z. Despite his massive wealth, he still struggles with feelings of isolation, depression and unhappiness.
Over the weekend on Twitter, Persson opened up in a series of emotional tweets. “The problem with getting everything is you run out of reasons to keep trying, and human interaction becomes impossible due to imbalance,” he wrote.
